From Trials to Opportunities

When trials come our way, as they are sure to do at times, how do we face them? One way to
turn a difficulty into a strength is to ask ourselves, “What can I learn from this?”. When we
focus on what is unfair or negative, that is all we will see. When we focus on the good, we will
find it. Let’s choose to search for the good. What are we learning? When we fall, will we keep
on growing? How can we turn this into an opportunity? What can we do to make something
good come of this? We may not be able to stop the trials from coming, but we can choose how
to respond when they do.

“So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to
others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about
our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment. We can't direct
the wind, but we can adjust the sails. For maximum happiness, peace, and contentment, may
we choose a positive attitude.”
― Thomas S. Monson
